After last year’s great public response, Susanne Engelhardt (geh8 Kunstraum und Ateliers e. V.) is once again inviting visitors to an exhibition at geh8 from March 5 to 21, 2009, which will bring together a wide variety of positions in contemporary pottery and ceramics. “Dauerbrenner” is the ambivalent title of this year’s show – it refers to an essential and exciting part of the production process and at the same time indicates that the show will be held annually from now on.
The exhibition fills an important gap: It is true that the state capital of Dresden is celebrating the 300th anniversary of porcelain development this year. But anyone who wants to experience contemporary ceramic and porcelain art in its full spectrum of forms and colors will look in vain in Dresden’s galleries and museums – it has been underrepresented for years.
The show builds a bridge between already established and young ceramicists, each of whom stands out for their unorthodox approach.
Thus, there will be impressive turned and built vessels, cast and free-formed objects, simple porcelain and wildly painted ceramics on display.
